AB0832 PREVALENCE OF OCULAR DISEASES IN PATIENTS WITH SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS: A RETROSPECTIVE OBSERVATIONAL STUDY IN A TERTIARY HOSPITAL IN TAIWAN

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) could affect multiple parts of the eye. (1,2) Also, there is risk ocular toxicity associated with treatment, such as hydroxychloroquine.(3) Early diagnosis essential to avoid major complications. However, complaints eye discomfort may be vague, and various presentations pose challenges on rheumatologists. Knowing real-world prevalence problems in patients SLE important helpful, yet this has been less common reported. Objectives: To describe ophthalmologic diagnoses SLE. Methods: This a retrospective observational study conducted tertiary hospital Taipei, Taiwan. Patients diagnosed period between 1st Jan, 2002 31th Dec, 2015 evaluated by ophthalmologists 2 years before 29th 2021 were included. Demographic clinical data, recorded chart review. Results: A total 121 included, 118 (97.5%) female. Average age was 46.2 [standard deviation (SD) 11.4 years] upon evaluation, average duration suffering from 11.6 (SD 3.3 years). Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (n = 48, 39.7%), myopia 39, 32.2%), cataract 21, 17.4%) most findings. It also noted that suspicious finding hydroxychloroquine retinal found 12 (9.9% patients). two had retinopathy, another cytomegalovirus retinitis. In addition, glaucoma 9 (7.4%), which seemed higher than general population.
